Pedestrian killed by CTA bus

A northbound No. 9 Ashland bus struck and killed a 52-year-old woman this morning at the corner of 66th Street and Ashland Avenue.

The woman was declared dead at the scene shortly after the 9 a.m. accident, officials said.

Chicago Police spokesman Marcel Bright, said few details about the incident were available.

"Major accident is handling the investigation," he said. "They are still out at the scene."

There were riders on the bus, but no other injuries have been reported.

Buses were temporarily rerouted but have since returned to their normal schedules.
